Every architect and technician engaged in the practice of architecture in any way is governed by the Architectural Profession Act No. 44 of 2000 and the Rules: Act 44 of 2000 – Code of Professional Conduct.
This includes
- Registration and practice as an individual
- Registration and requirements of a Practice
- The requirement of Written Agreements on all projects
- The Code of Conduct
Whilst compliance with the legislation is not onerous, many practitioners fail to comply, and many practitioners have little knowledge of the legislation and their obligations. Whilst failure to comply will not necessarily lead to disciplinary action, many of the disputes and problems referred to KZNIA could be avoided or at least simplified if the requirements of the Act were followed.
