Despite the urban design restrictions in the Umhlanga office park location and the corporate image demanded by Investec, this building is strongly grounded in its setting. It is also a comfortable and invigorating working environment, with sun penetrating the four office floors through the high-volume concourse on the one side, and spectacular views of the ocean and the city on the other. Well detailed and remarkably energy efficient, the Excellence Awards’ jury concluded that the design of the building transforms what would normally be a stoic highbrow environment into something that is human and spiritually uplifting.
